The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) in the United Kingdom has published a warning against NovaTask, identifying it as an unauthorized clone firm attempting to deceive consumers by impersonating a legitimately authorized financial entity. According to the regulatory alert, the fraudsters operating NovaTask have been contacting individuals and claiming to represent an FCA-authorized business. In doing so, they seek to mislead investors into believing they are dealing with a genuine, regulated provider of financial services. The clone operation is known to operate through the website novatask.uk, communicate via the email address [email protected], and utilize the Telegram handle @Nova_task. The scammers have also listed the address 71-75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London, WC2H 9JQ. The FCA notes that operators of clone firms frequently alter or mix false contact details with legitimate business information to bypass detection. The genuine firm being impersonated is Nova Business Finance Ltd (Firm Reference Number 1016336), located at 26 Gravel Walk, Emberton, Olney, Milton Keynes, MK46 5JA. The legitimate authorized business has no association whatsoever with NovaTask or its operators. Investors who engage with unauthorized entities like NovaTask do not have access to key consumer protections, including the Financial Ombudsman Service or the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS). The FCA strongly advises the public to verify any financial firm's credentials on the official FCA Register using confirmed contact details before transferring any funds.
