The Financial Services and Markets Authority (FSMA) of Belgium has issued a public warning regarding unauthorized financial activities conducted by scammers impersonating OGESIP Invest.
According to the Belgian financial regulator, fraudsters are operating a clone entity to misrepresent themselves as OGESIP Invest. The genuine entity is an institutional open-ended investment company (Sicav/Bevek) governed by Belgian law and held by OGEO Fund, an occupational retirement institution authorized by the FSMA. The regulator clarified that legitimate OGESIP Invest does not operate any public website.
To carry out the scam, the fraudsters created a fraudulent platform at https://www.ogesip-investment.com/. This website unlawfully displays the legitimate company's information and contact details without authorization to create a false sense of legitimacy and deceive consumers.
The FSMA confirmed that the fraudulent website is not authorized to provide investment services in Belgium. Operating as a clone firm, the platform exploits the reputation of a regulated entity to trick victims into believing they are dealing with a licensed financial provider.
The regulator strongly advises consumers against responding to any financial offers made by individuals associated with this website and warns against transferring money to any bank accounts they provide.
To avoid falling victim to clone firm scams, the FSMA recommends that investors always independently verify the identity, registration, and official contact details of financial firms through regulator databases. Investors should also be cautious of suspicious website domain variations, newly created websites, inconsistent contact numbers, and offers promising disproportionate or guaranteed returns.
