The Belgian Financial Services and Markets Authority (FSMA) has issued an urgent warning regarding a new wave of fraudulent online trading platforms. These illicit entities lure retail investors with promises of effortless, substantial profits, operating sophisticated schemes designed to strip victims of their funds.
According to the FSMA, fraudsters deploy diverse tactics to initiate contact with prospective victims. Common methods include deceptive advertisements featuring fabricated celebrity endorsements, specialized lead-generation portals, fake profiles on dating applications such as Tinder and Bumble, unsolicited SMS or Telegram/WhatsApp messages disguised as mistaken contacts, and referrals through acquaintances. Across all channels, operators promise returns far beyond real-market possibilities.
Once an investor registers, they are typically urged to start with an initial deposit around 250 euros. In many instances, scammers offer to assist by taking remote control of the investor's computer screen, using this access to process deposits directly while potentially downloading spyware or malicious software onto the victim's device.
After receiving initial funds, the platforms manipulate account dashboards to show artificial, lucrative gains. In reality, no investments take place. Operators then intensify pressure through frequent phone calls, time-sensitive offers, and even threats to extract larger sums. When victims attempt to withdraw their funds, the fraudsters block payments, demanding exorbitant upfront fees, taxes, or penalties. In some cases, platforms operate as pyramid schemes, collapsing entirely when recruitment stalls.
Furthermore, the FSMA explicitly highlighted two lead-generating websites used to funnel victims to rogue platforms: Flash Deal Academy (flashdealacademy.com) and NeuroTradeX (neuro-tradex.com, neurotradexplatform.com).
The FSMA strongly advises against engaging with the following blacklisted trading platforms, fraudulent domains, and clone operations:
