The Financial Services and Markets Authority (FSMA) in Belgium has issued a public warning against the activities of unauthorized lenders offering fake credit to consumers on the internet.
According to the FSMA, 20 fraudulent credit providers have been identified targeting consumers through unsolicited emails, social media channels such as Facebook and WhatsApp, and online advertisements. Taking advantage of consumers seeking additional credit during challenging economic times, these scammers pose as authorized lenders or registered credit intermediaries. In some instances, they unlawfully use the names and logos of reputable credit institutions, engaging in identity theft and firm cloning.
The fraudulent entities entice prospective borrowers with highly attractive terms, such as substantial loan amounts at extremely low interest rates, without performing credit checks or examining past loan defaults. However, once consumers respond to the offers, the operators demand upfront payments for fictitious charges. These fabricated fees are typically described as insurance premiums to cover non-repayment risks, file processing fees, authentication fees, or administrative costs. Once the victims transfer the requested amounts, the perpetrators vanish, making recovery of the funds nearly impossible.
The FSMA strongly advises against engaging with any credit offers from the following irregularly active entities:
- 1uurkredietnl (www.1uurkredietnl.com)
- Agence Chrono Invest (www.agencechronoinvest.com)
- Belmunix (www.belmunix.com)
- BLF Kapital Kredit Group (www.blfkapitalkreditgroup.be)
- Bluesky Finance en Bskyconseils (www.bskyconseils.com)
- CogniPay (www.cogni-pay.com)
- Credabank Int (www.credabank-int.com, www.credabank.com)
- Delcourt Finance (www.delcourtfinance.com)
- Finanlab (www.finanlab.be)
- Gexia Finance (www.gexiafinance.com)
- Halenson (www.halenson.com)
- Krefitex (www.krefitex.com)
- Lendix (www.lendix.be)
- Lening direct (www.leningdirect.com)
- Nationaal Krediet (www.nationaal-krediet.com)
- Optiakredit (www.optiakredit.com)
- Rufmaxkredit (www.rufmaxkredit.com)
- Snel Krediet NL (www.snelkredietnl.com)
- Snel Servicekredit (www.snel-servicekredit.com)
- Zonsten (www.zonsten.com)
To identify and avoid these fraudulent schemes, the FSMA recommends that consumers remain vigilant regarding unsolicited loan proposals received online or via social media. Individuals should be skeptical of credit offers with unusually advantageous conditions and should never pay upfront fees required to secure a loan. The regulator urges the public to verify whether a lender is properly authorized or registered using the search tool available on the FSMA website and to conduct independent research before making any payments. Suspicious entities should be reported directly to the FSMA.
