Belgium's Financial Services and Markets Authority (FSMA) has published an official warning regarding unauthorized lenders targeting consumers with fraudulent credit offers. These fraudulent operators approach individuals through unsolicited emails, social media platforms such as Facebook and WhatsApp, and deceptive online advertisements.
According to the FSMA, the fraudsters exploit individuals looking for credit by presenting offers on terms that are too favorable to be genuine. These include promises of substantial loan amounts, extremely low interest rates, and no background checks regarding the borrower's credit history. To appear legitimate, the scammers frequently use the names, logos, and identity details of authorized credit institutions in what constitutes clone firm fraud.
Once a consumer agrees to the loan terms, the perpetrators demand advance payments before releasing the funds. The scammers claim these advance fees cover loan default insurance premiums, administrative processing, or file authentication. These costs are entirely fictitious. After the consumer transfers the money, the fraudulent lender terminates all communication, and the victim is unable to recover the lost funds.
The FSMA has explicitly blacklisted the following five unauthorized operations and websites:
- Best Financiering (www.bestfinanciering.com)
- Cepreco (www.ceprecogroup.com)
- CSS befinancien (https://css-befinancien.com/)
- Krediet Pro Finanz (www.kredietprofinanz.be)
- Pac Finanx (www.pacfinanx.com)
The regulator strongly advises consumers never to accept unsolicited credit proposals from unknown sources and to remain vigilant against lenders requiring upfront payments. Consumers should always check official regulatory databases to confirm that an entity is properly authorized to provide financial credit before entering into any agreement.
