The Financial Services and Markets Authority (FSMA) in Belgium has issued a public warning regarding 20 unauthorized lenders operating fake credit schemes. These fraudulent operators target consumers online by offering bogus loans, frequently masquerading as legitimate institutions or licensed credit intermediaries through cloned firm fraud. Scammers typically contact consumers through unsolicited messages via email or social media channels such as Facebook and WhatsApp, or through online advertisements. Taking advantage of individuals looking for financial assistance in the current economic climate, the perpetrators propose credit on unrealistically favorable terms, including large loan amounts, unusually low interest rates, and no background checks regarding prior defaults. To access the promised funds, victims are instructed to make advance payments. The scammers claim these payments cover insurance premiums against non-repayment, file processing fees, administrative costs, or legalisation expenses. These charges are completely fictitious. Once the requested advance fees are paid, the fraudsters disappear, leaving victims unable to recover their money. The FSMA has identified the following unauthorized entities and websites operating in this manner: - 1uurkredietnl (www.1uurkredietnl.com) - Agence Chrono Invest (www.agencechronoinvest.com) - Belmunix (www.belmunix.com) - BLF Kapital Kredit Group (www.blfkapitalkreditgroup.be) - Bluesky Finance and Bskyconseils (www.bskyconseils.com) - CogniPay (www.cogni-pay.com) - Credabank Int (www.credabank-int.com, www.credabank.com) - Delcourt Finance (www.delcourtfinance.com) - Finanlab (www.finanlab.be) - Gexia Finance (www.gexiafinance.com) - Halenson (www.halenson.com) - Krefitex (www.krefitex.com) - Lendix (www.lendix.be) - Lening direct (www.leningdirect.com) - Nationaal Krediet (www.nationaal-krediet.com) - Optiakredit (www.optiakredit.com) - Rufmaxkredit (www.rufmaxkredit.com) - Snel Krediet NL (www.snelkredietnl.com) - Snel Servicekredit (www.snel-servicekredit.com) - Zonsten (www.zonsten.com) The regulator strongly advises consumers to exercise caution regarding unsolicited credit offers received online or via social media. Potential borrowers should remain suspicious of unusually generous terms and must never pay upfront fees or costs before a loan is granted. Consumers should always check regulatory registers to confirm whether an entity is properly licensed to offer credit, research providers using search engines while staying alert to fake positive reviews, and contact financial authorities immediately before transferring any funds to dubious providers.
