The Financial Services and Markets Authority (FSMA) of Belgium has issued a public warning regarding unauthorized lenders targeting consumers with fake credit schemes. The regulator identified 14 fraudulent providers that approach victims through unsolicited emails, social media channels such as Facebook and WhatsApp, or deceptive online advertising.
According to the FSMA, fraudsters are taking advantage of consumers seeking extra liquidity by offering attractive loans with unusually low interest rates, large capital sums, and no credit history verifications. In many instances, the scammers impersonate legitimate, registered credit institutions and intermediaries by copying their names and logos, engaging in clone firm fraud.
To execute the scam, these illicit entities instruct applicants to pay advance fees before any loan funds can be disbursed. These upfront payments are falsely presented as file handling charges, administrative fees, authentication costs, or insurance premiums intended to cover loan default. Once the victim transfers the requested funds, the operators vanish, and the promised loan is never delivered.
The 14 unauthorized websites and entities identified by the FSMA include:
- Barivex Union (www.barivexunion.com)
- Bldn Financing (www.bldnfinancing.com)
- CST Efinenciën (www.cst-efinancien.com)
- Dexia Finance (www.dexiafinance.com)
- Dior Kredit (https://www.dior-kredit.be)
- EU Consultant Ltd. (www.euconsultantltd.com)
- Hag Finance (www.hagfinance.com)
- Kaiser Finanz (https://kaiserfinanz.com)
- Mijn Direct Lening (https://mijn-directlening.com)
- Plus Lening (https://pluslening.com)
- Snel Direct Krediet (https://sneldirectkrediet.com)
- Snel Geld (https://snel-geld.com/)
- Torfs Groups (https://torfscapital.com)
- Veilige Lening (https://veiligelening.com)
The regulator urges the public to remain vigilant against unsolicited credit proposals received online. Consumers should treat any demand for upfront payments to secure a loan as a major red flag, verify the regulatory status of credit providers through the official FSMA register, and independently research entities before engaging in financial transactions. Consumers who encounter suspicious providers are encouraged to report them directly to the FSMA.
