The Belgian Financial Services and Markets Authority (FSMA) has issued a public warning regarding fraudulent investment schemes marketed as high-yield alternatives to traditional savings products. According to reports received by the regulator, scammers are targeting consumers with deceptive offers involving assets such as cryptocurrencies and precious metals.
Victims typically encounter these schemes through online advertisements placed on social media platforms and fake news websites. After engaging with the ads, individuals are contacted via telephone and email by individuals promising unrealistically high returns. The FSMA cautions that these offers are designed solely to defraud consumers of their savings.
In its alert, the FSMA explicitly named two platforms operating without the necessary authorization:
- Estoque Invest (estoque-invest.com)
- Ezio Capital (https://eziocapital.com/)
Neither company holds authorization to offer financial or investment services in Belgium. Consequently, the FSMA strongly advises the public not to engage with these entities, accept any financial service offers from them, or transfer funds to bank accounts connected to their operations.
To avoid falling victim to financial fraud, the regulator advises investors to always verify a company's identity, including its legal name, country of origin, and registered office. Consumers should cross-check regulatory databases to confirm that an entity has the proper authorizations before making any commitments. The FSMA also highlights the risk of clone firms, which impersonate legitimate companies, and urges investors to carefully inspect email addresses and contact information.
Investors who encounter suspicious financial entities or believe they have been targeted by an investment scam are encouraged to alert financial supervisory bodies and report the incident to local law enforcement or judicial authorities.
