The Financial Services and Markets Authority (FSMA) of Belgium has issued a public warning regarding fraudulent operators impersonating established banks and financial institutions. Fraudsters are targeting consumers through online advertisements and social media campaigns with fake savings products that promise above-market returns with zero risk. According to the FSMA, the fraudulent scheme typically begins when consumers submit their contact details through online forms embedded in sponsored social media posts or unsolicited advertisements. Victims are then contacted via email or telephone by scammers pretending to represent legitimate banking and investment brands. The promised returns are presented as capital-guaranteed, but once funds are transferred, victims are unable to withdraw their deposits. In related variants, scammers also propose fraudulent credit offers requiring upfront fee payments. The regulator has identified several clone operations and unauthorized contact points linked to this campaign: - Trade Republic Bank: Impersonated via the fake website https://web.app-traderepublic.com/ and email addresses ending in @contact-republic.com, @gestion-republic.com, and @traderepublic-inv.com. - Wise Europe: Impersonated via the fraudulent portal https://acces.wtb-management.com/ and email addresses ending in @wtb-privatemanagement.com, @wiseconformite.com, and [email protected]. - Axa Banque: Fraudsters operating through email addresses ending in @axa-europe-patrimoine.com. - Banque Transatlantique: Contact attempts originating from @transatlantique-patrimoine.com. - ING Bank: Impersonation attempts using the email address [email protected]. - Caixabank and Deutsche Bank: Brand names usurped by unauthorized third parties. The FSMA warns that fraudsters often adapt their tactics by cloning other reputable institutions. Investors are advised to remain skeptical of unsolicited investment offers, especially those promising high or guaranteed returns. Always cross-check company information and licensing details via the official registers of the FSMA or the National Bank of Belgium, and verify that email addresses and website domains correspond exactly with official corporate channels. Individuals who suspect they have been targeted should cease all payments immediately and reject demands for secondary fees or recovery payments. Victims are urged to lodge a complaint with local law enforcement and notify the FSMA with full documentation of the transactions and communication records.
