The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) has warned consumers about Quantara Global Markets, saying the firm may be providing or promoting financial services or products in the UK without permission. The regulator advised people to avoid dealing with the firm and to be alert to potential scams.
The warning identifies Quantara Global Markets as being based at an address in East Finchley, London, and lists the email address [email protected] and the website https://quantaraglobalmarketsltd.com/investment.html. The FCA cautioned that unauthorised firms may provide incorrect or changing contact details, including addresses, telephone numbers and email addresses. They may also use details belonging to another business or individual to appear legitimate.
Quantara Global Markets is not authorised by the FCA, although almost all firms and individuals carrying out or promoting financial services in the UK must be authorised or registered. Consumers who deal with an unauthorised firm generally cannot use the Financial Ombudsman Service to resolve a complaint and are unlikely to receive protection from the Financial Services Compensation Scheme if the firm fails.
The FCA recommends checking any financial business through its Firm Checker before responding or sending money. Consumers who receive an unexpected approach should use the contact details shown in the FCA register rather than replying through the original message. People who believe they have been contacted by an unauthorised firm can report it to the FCA by calling 0800 111 6768 or using the regulator's contact form. Payments sent to a scam account on or after 7 October 2024 may fall under protections introduced by the Payment Systems Regulator, depending on the circumstances.
