The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) has warned consumers about Momentum Peak Trade, saying the firm is not authorised to provide or promote financial services in the UK and may be targeting people in the country. The regulator advised the public to avoid dealing with the firm and to remain alert to potential scams. The warning lists Momentum Peak Trade’s telephone number as +447441905299 and identifies several email addresses, including [email protected], [email protected], [email protected], [email protected] and [email protected]. Websites associated with the name include momentumpeaktrade.io, momentumpeaktrade.com, client.momentumpeaktrade.io, momentumpeaktrade.co and client.momentumpeaktrade.ac. The FCA said that anyone dealing with the firm would not have access to the Financial Ombudsman Service for complaints and would not be protected by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme if the business failed. It also cautioned that unauthorised firms can provide incorrect contact details or use information belonging to another business or individual, making them appear genuine. Consumers should check any financial firm through the FCA Firm Checker before sending money or sharing information. The regulator said people contacted unexpectedly by a financial business should use the contact details shown on the Firm Checker rather than relying on details supplied by the caller or sender. Suspected approaches by unauthorised firms can be reported to the FCA on 0800 111 6768 or through its contact form. The FCA also noted that people who sent money to a fraudster on or after 7 October 2024 may be covered by protections introduced by the Payment Systems Regulator.
