FCA Warns Against Unauthorised Firm BITRUMARKET

The UK Financial Conduct Authority warns that BITRUMARKET is unauthorised and may be targeting people in the UK through bitrumarket.icu.

The UK Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) has warned consumers not to deal with BITRUMARKET, saying the firm is unauthorised and may be targeting people in the UK with financial services or products. The warning names the website bitrumarket.icu and lists addresses in London and Frankfurt, along with an email contact. The FCA cautions that unauthorised firms can provide incorrect or changing contact details, including addresses and email addresses, or use details belonging to another business or person to appear genuine. The listed contact information should therefore not be treated as proof that BITRUMARKET is connected to a legitimate business at either address. People who deal with an unauthorised firm do not have access to the Financial Ombudsman Service to resolve complaints and are not protected by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme if the firm fails. The FCA says recovery of money in that situation is unlikely. For payments sent to a scam account on or after 7 October 2024, protections introduced by the Payment Systems Regulator may apply. Consumers can check a firm’s authorisation and permitted services using the FCA Firm Checker, and should use its verified contact details when responding to an unexpected approach. Anyone who believes they have been contacted by an unauthorised firm can report it to the FCA by calling 0800 111 6768 or using the regulator’s contact form.
