SEC Small Business Committee to Examine IPO Modernization and Crowdfunding Rules
The SEC’s Small Business Capital Formation Advisory Committee will meet on October 27 to discuss modernizing IPOs and potential changes to Regulation Crowdfunding.
The Securities and Exchange Commission’s Small Business Capital Formation Advisory Committee will meet on October 27, 2026, to discuss ways to modernize the initial public offering process and consider potential policy changes to Regulation Crowdfunding. The public meeting will begin at 10 a.m. and will be held at the SEC’s headquarters at 100 F Street, N.E., in Washington, D.C., with a live webcast available on SEC.gov.
The committee’s morning session will build on ideas raised during earlier meetings and focus on encouraging more companies to go public. Members will consider possible improvements to the offering process, IPO communication rules, and analyst coverage and support. The discussions concern potential reforms and recommendations rather than announced changes to existing securities regulations.
The afternoon session will examine Regulation Crowdfunding, including the current regulatory framework, its successes to date, and challenges facing the exemption. Committee members will also discuss whether policy changes could improve the framework and expand access to early-stage capital raising. Several experienced crowdfunding professionals are expected to provide input on the current Reg CF landscape.
The Small Business Capital Formation Advisory Committee advises the SEC on rules, regulations, and policy matters affecting small businesses. The full agenda contains additional details about the October 27 meeting.
