SEC and Japan’s FSA Hold Autumn Financial Regulatory Dialogue in Tokyo
The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and Japan’s Financial Services Agency (FSA) held their Autumn Financial Regulatory Dialogue in Tokyo on Oct. 19, 2026, discussing market developments and regulatory and supervisory issues affecting both authorities. The meeting continued their efforts to strengthen cooperation on cross-border financial matters and shared priorities, including investor protection. SEC Commissioner Mark T. Uyeda led the U.S. delegation, while FSA Vice Minister for International Affairs MIYOSHI Toshiyuki led Japan’s. Uyeda described the agencies’ relationship as longstanding and said the dialogue would advance coordination on shared financial-sector priorities. Miyoshi said the meeting offered an opportunity to deepen mutual understanding as capital markets change, and reaffirmed the FSA’s commitment to close cooperation with the SEC. Participants exchanged views on developments in public and private markets, asset management and innovation priorities. They also reviewed recent market conditions and the strategic priorities of the two authorities, covering regulatory and supervisory matters. The next SEC-FSA Dialogue is scheduled to take place in Washington, D.C., in spring 2027.
