CFTC Staff Withdraws Advisory on Virtual Currency Derivative Product Listings
The CFTC has officially withdrawn Staff Advisory No. 18-14 concerning virtual currency derivative product listings, citing expanded staff experience and market maturity.
The Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) has announced the immediate withdrawal of Staff Advisory No. 18-14, which provided guidance on virtual currency derivative product listings.
The action was jointly announced by the CFTC’s Division of Market Oversight (DMO) and the Division of Clearing and Risk (DCR). The withdrawal takes effect immediately.
According to the withdrawal notice issued by the divisions, the 2018 advisory was determined to no longer be necessary. Regulators pointed to substantial staff experience gained in reviewing virtual currency derivative listings, alongside ongoing growth and maturing conditions across the virtual currency derivatives market.
