CFTC Resumes Publication of Commitments of Traders Reports with Catch-Up Schedule
The Commodity Futures Trading Commission will resume issuing its Commitments of Traders reports following a lapse in federal appropriations, rolling out an accelerated catch-up schedule.
The Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) has announced plans to resume the publication of its Commitments of Traders (COT) reports, following interruptions caused by a lapse in federal government appropriations. Alongside the resumption, the regulatory agency detailed an accelerated catch-up release timetable designed to clear the backlog of delayed market reports.
Publication will restart chronologically at 3:30 p.m. Eastern Time on Wednesday, November 19, 2025. The initial release will provide market data from the first missed reporting period, corresponding to the report date of September 30, 2025, which was originally scheduled for publication on October 3, 2025.
To systematically clear the accumulated reporting backlog, the CFTC will temporarily increase the frequency of its COT releases. Under the revised timetable, the agency will publish multiple reports across consecutive weeks spanning late November, December, and January.
According to the CFTC, the catch-up process is consistent with publishing procedures deployed following previous federal government shutdowns. The regulator expects the full backlog to be cleared by January 23, 2026, at which point COT report publications will return to their regular schedule. The agency noted that the schedule will be updated as necessary on its website.
