CFTC Rebuts Allegations Concerning Acting Chairman Caroline D. Pham
The CFTC has issued an official statement dismissing claims published in a Bloomberg article regarding Acting Chairman Caroline D. Pham's travel and agency leadership.
The Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) has released an official statement rejecting allegations published in a Bloomberg report regarding Acting Chairman Caroline D. Pham, characterizing the claims as baseless and an effort to distract from the commission's work.
According to a CFTC spokesperson, the assertions in the article were not fact-checked with the regulatory agency prior to publication. The agency emphasized that Pham's tenure has been defined by efforts to improve transparency, uphold the law, and enforce management accountability. The CFTC also noted that leadership transitions and new administrations routinely bring changes to senior management across the agency.
The regulator specifically addressed and denied claims concerning Pham's travel. The spokesperson stated that all aspects of her travel underwent review and formal approval by agency officials, including the Chief Financial Officer, the Ethics Office, and the General Counsel, backed by supporting documentation.
Additionally, the CFTC clarified that all personal travel expenses, including business class flights, hotel lodging, and commuting costs, were paid directly from Pham's personal funds rather than by the CFTC, with receipts substantiating those expenses. The commission stated that Pham remained in full compliance with all laws, regulations, and internal agency policies, dismissing insinuations of workplace intimidation or abusive conduct as verifiably without merit.
