CFTC Acting Chairman Pham Calls for Nominations to CEO Innovation Council
Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) Acting Chairman Caroline D. Pham is inviting public nominations for the newly announced CFTC CEO Innovation Council, establishing a submission deadline of December 8. The creation of the council comes as the CFTC pursues advancements in market structure and financial technology. The agency's recent initiatives include the Crypto CEO Forum, prediction markets, perpetual contracts, and 24/7 trading models. Additionally, the CFTC is conducting a Crypto Sprint targeted to run through August 2026. Designed to implement recommendations from the President’s Working Group on Digital Asset Markets report, the sprint focuses on listed spot crypto trading, tokenized collateral, stablecoins, and rulemaking to support blockchain technology across financial market infrastructure. Acting Chairman Pham noted that the regulator aims to carry out its statutory mission across expanded markets and digital asset products while maintaining market resilience and participant protections. She highlighted the importance of engaging industry executives and visionaries to help shape responsible regulatory frameworks. Members of the public can submit nominations of qualified individuals alongside proposed regulatory topics to prioritize. Nomination packages must include the nominee's name, title, organizational affiliation, qualifications, suggested focus areas, and nominator contact details. The CFTC noted that submitting a nomination does not guarantee selection for the council.
