CFTC and NBA Sign Agreement to Share Information on Prediction Market Integrity
The Commodity Futures Trading Commission and NBA will regularly share information on integrity issues and fair, transparent prediction markets.
The Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) and the National Basketball Association (NBA) signed a memorandum of understanding on October 26, 2026, to strengthen cooperation on the integrity of professional basketball in prediction markets. The agreement provides for regular information sharing and discussions between the agency and the league on integrity matters and maintaining fair, transparent markets.
CFTC Chairman Michael S. Selig said the agreement continues the commission’s efforts to increase data sharing with professional sports leagues. He said the collaboration is intended to help protect both sports integrity and prediction-market participants from abuses including insider trading and fraud.
The NBA joins Major League Baseball and the National Hockey League, which Selig said had also signed agreements with the CFTC. NBA Commissioner Adam Silver worked with the commission on the new agreement, according to Selig. The announcement describes a framework for cooperation; it does not announce a new rule or enforcement action.
