CFTC Updates Clearing Requirements for Canadian Dollar and Mexican Peso Interest Rate Swaps
The CFTC has issued a final rule amending clearing requirements for interest rate swaps denominated in Canadian dollars and Mexican pesos.
The Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) has issued a final rule to modify clearing requirements for interest rate swaps denominated in the Canadian dollar (CAD) and the Mexican peso (MXN).
The final rule updates the regulatory framework governing mandatory clearing of interest rate derivative products under the CFTC's oversight. The adjustments apply to market participants subject to CFTC swap clearing mandates involving interest rate swap contracts denominated in both currencies.
Market participants and financial institutions trading interest rate swaps in Canadian dollars and Mexican pesos should review their compliance and operational processes in accordance with the revised clearing determination published by the U.S. derivatives regulator.
