CFTC Publishes Operational Contingency Plan for Potential Lapse in Appropriations
The Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) has issued a formal notice in the Federal Register outlining guidelines for the continuation, shutdown, and eventual resumption of agency operations in the event of a lapse in federal appropriations. The guidance is designed to alert all entities regulated by the Commission, as well as individuals and organizations currently participating in agency proceedings, about how operational procedures and regulatory matters will be managed if government funding lapses. Alongside the Federal Register notice, the Commission published its official Plan for Lapse in Appropriations, providing detailed directives on the maintenance of critical regulatory functions and the handling of ongoing proceedings during a shutdown period.
