CFTC to Convene Crypto CEO Forum to Launch Digital Asset Markets Pilot
The CFTC has announced an upcoming CEO Forum with major crypto executives to discuss launching a pilot program for tokenized non-cash collateral like stablecoins.
The Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) has announced that it will host a CEO Forum featuring leadership from prominent industry firms to discuss the rollout of a digital asset markets pilot program. The initiative aims to explore the use of tokenized non-cash collateral, such as stablecoins.
Confirmed participants for the forum include major industry entities Circle, Coinbase, Crypto.com, MoonPay, and Ripple. The CFTC noted that additional details regarding the event will be provided once final arrangements are complete.
Acting Chairman Caroline D. Pham framed the forum as a significant step forward for U.S. markets, emphasizing the regulator's commitment to responsible innovation and aligning with the Trump Administration's objectives to foster domestic economic opportunity.
Pham has previously championed the concept of a CFTC pilot program operating as a regulatory sandbox. The approach is intended to provide clear regulatory guidance for digital asset markets while implementing necessary guardrails. The CFTC highlighted that it has successfully deployed pilot programs dating back to the 1990s.
The initiative builds on earlier efforts by the CFTC’s Global Markets Advisory Committee, which is sponsored by Pham. Last year, the committee's Digital Asset Markets Subcommittee released recommendations focused on expanding the use of non-cash collateral through distributed ledger technology.
