CFTC Appoints Stephen Andrews and Jordan Minot as Deputy General Counsels

The Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) has announced the appointments of Stephen D. Andrews and M. Jordan Minot as deputy general counsel for regulation and litigation, respectively. In his new capacity, Andrews will lead the Regulatory Branch within the General Counsel’s Office. He joins the CFTC from the United States Senate, where he served as general counsel to Senator Josh Hawley. Andrews previously completed judicial clerkships on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit and the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York after graduating from Yale Law School. Minot will lead the Litigation, Enforcement, and Adjudication Branch in the General Counsel’s Office. He previously worked at the Virginia Attorney General’s Office as an assistant solicitor general and senior assistant attorney general. A graduate of the University of Virginia School of Law, Minot clerked on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit for then-Judge Amy Coney Barrett. CFTC Chairman Michael S. Selig noted that the appointments come at a vital moment as the agency engages in key rulemaking and litigation initiatives to preserve and defend its regulatory jurisdiction. General Counsel Tyler Badgley stated that the addition of the two deputies will support the Commission in pursuing a pro-growth agenda while maintaining lawful and durable administrative actions.
