CFTC Appoints Alan Brubaker as Director of Legislative and Intergovernmental Affairs

Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) Chairman Michael S. Selig announced on March 2, 2026, that Alan Brubaker will serve as the Director of the Office of Legislative and Intergovernmental Affairs (OLIA). In his new role, Brubaker will oversee the Commission's engagement with Congress and other government entities. Chairman Selig highlighted Brubaker's background in economic, agricultural, and financial policy, emphasizing that his experience will support the CFTC's collaboration with lawmakers on policies aimed at fostering market innovation and securing leadership in financial markets and technology. Brubaker noted his focus on ensuring fair and liquid risk management markets for the agricultural sector, while equipping the regulator with the tools needed to adapt to evolving market dynamics and innovation. Before this appointment, Brubaker was a senior advisor to the U.S. House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform under Chairman James Comer, where he participated in oversight and investigative initiatives. His previous professional experience includes serving as vice president of external affairs for Prudential Financial alongside other public sector roles. Brubaker holds a Bachelor of Arts in Government and Politics from the University of Maryland.
