CFTC Announces Departure of Veteran Regulatory Official Amanda Olear

The Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) has announced that Amanda L. Olear, former Director of the Market Participants Division and former Acting Director of the Division of Market Oversight, will depart the agency on May 2, 2025. Olear concludes a tenure of more than 17 years across numerous leadership positions within the regulatory body. Olear joined the CFTC in 2007 as an attorney-advisor in the Division of Clearing and Intermediary Oversight, with a focus on Commodity Pool Operators (CPOs) and Commodity Trading Advisors (CTAs). She subsequently advanced through several leadership capacities, becoming Associate Director of the Managed Funds Section in the Division of Swap Dealer and Intermediary Oversight in 2013, and serving as Deputy Director of Registration and Compliance between 2017 and 2021. From 2021, Olear led the Market Participants Division as Director before serving as Acting Director of the Division of Market Oversight, where she managed teams tasked with supervising derivatives platforms and swap data repositories. CFTC Acting Chairman Caroline D. Pham commended Olear's service, highlighting her leadership, expertise, and pragmatism across her 17-year tenure and her participation on Pham's executive management team. Olear also expressed gratitude to Acting Chairman Pham, former Chairman Behnam, and the regulatory staff across both divisions for their collaboration throughout her career at the agency.
